š± The Padovan MethodĀ®ļø ā Neurofunctional Reorganization
The Padovan MethodĀ®ļø is a holistic therapeutic approach developed over 40 years ago by Brazilian speech therapist Beatriz Padovan (SĆ£o Paulo). This method is based on the understanding that certain movement patterns play a crucial role in the physiological and neurological development of humans.
šÆ Goals of Padovan Therapy:
The goal of the Padovan Therapy is to reorganize the nervous system by mimicking natural developmental processes, creating a foundation for the acquisition and restoration of skills and abilities. It is successfully used to treat:
ā¢ Developmental disorders
ā¢ Neurological conditions
ā¢ Rehabilitation processes
š Key Movement Sequences:
In each therapy session, specific neuro-evolutionary movement sequences are practiced, modeled after the natural developmental stages of humans:
ā¢ š¶āāļø The stages of locomotion and upright posture
ā¢ ā The development of hand grasping
ā¢ š The physiological development of eye movements
ā¢ š« The reflexive-vegetative oral functions such as breathing, sucking, chewing, and swallowing
This method can be applied from infancy and is effective well into old age. It is also suitable for severely impaired patients who can only participate to a limited extent and is even used in intensive care settings.

š Module 1: Theoretical Foundations and Body Exercises
This unit provides a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of the PadovanĀ® Method. It is aimed at those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of human developmental processes and work with this unique method.
š Valuable Theoretical Foundations:
ā¢ š The key milestones of sensomotor, cognitive, and language development
ā¢ š± Basic principles of ontogeny (individual development) and phylogeny (evolutionary development)
ā¢ š§ The close connection between walking, speaking, and thinking
ā¢ š The principles of organization and reorganization of the nervous system
šŖ Practical Training:
ā¢ Learning and practicing all body, hand, and eye exercises
ā¢ Direct application through testing and practicing by participants
š£ļø Module 2: Orofacial Functions
For the area of speech, language, and swallowing disorders, the Padovan MethodĀ®ļø Neurofunctional Reorganization is a promising, body-oriented treatment approach that combines sensomotor and myofunctional exercises with breathing exercises, rhythmic activities, and auditory stimulation. It aims to lead existing perception and movement competencies of patients to a physiological development and maturation or to restore basic competencies (breathing, sucking, chewing, and swallowing) as prerequisites for speech function and for dental and jaw development in cases of acquired disorders.
