Product description:
The Pró-Fono Lip Positioning Guide was developed with the aim of acting in all cases where oromyofunctional disorders occur, that is, changes in mouth posture, patients with mouth breathing, lip tone and shortening of the upper lip.
The Pró-Fono Lip Positioning Guide by Altmann Pró-Fono was designed by speech therapist Professor Elisa BC Altmann. It consists of a strip of non-toxic medical-grade silicone with raised areas along its upper and lower surfaces to proprioceptively promote lip sealing.
The Altmann Pró-Fono Lip Positioning Guide complements the work of oral postures together with the Altmann Tongue Positioning Guide. It is even recommended that it be used together with the latter.
To launch the Altmann Pró-Fono Lip Positioning Guide, the lip prints of 200 people aged 3 to 53 were evaluated, including 69 males and 131 females. Its shape and size were developed based on this preliminary study to touch as much of the lip area as possible and provide more proprioceptive feedback to the region.

Indications:
The guide is indicated for all cases with changes in oral posture, for mouth breathers, for changes in lip muscle tone, for cases of shortened upper lips and overall for all patients with orofacial disorders.
Application:
The Pró-Fono Lip Positioning Guide by Altmann Pró-Fono should be positioned between the lips with its inner curve touching the lip surface of the upper teeth. The tips should be cut off for a better fit to the size of each lip.
Because of the wide variation in lip thickness between different races and age groups, there may be excess material protruding from the lips. In these cases, the speech therapist may also trim away this larger curvature of the Altmann Lip Positioning Guide.
If the Altmann Pró-Fono lip positioning guide protrudes too far from the sealed lips, this part can also be easily trimmed.
Precautions:
At the beginning of orofacial treatment, the patient should wear the Altmann Pró-Fono Lip Positioning Guide for as long as possible and gradually reduce its use over time until he or she is able to keep the lips closed naturally.
