Application / Instructions

Indications:

1. As support for speech therapy - oral motor skills - to strengthen the facial muscles, the mouth muscles, the zygomaticus muscles and especially the cheek muscles.

2. In the aesthetic clinic and facial physiotherapy as a toning facial muscle trainer to combat muscle flaccidity, especially in the cheek area when they have sunken.

3. As an aid to reduce oral parafunctions - bruxism - by promoting the activity of the bucinator muscle and reducing the activity of the masseter muscle.

Note 1:Before using the Pró-Fono facial trainer, carefully look at and touch your face in front of a mirror to notice details, wrinkles, bumps and textures, especially in the cheek area, to be able to assess development.

Note 2:The Pró-Fono facial trainer has been used by many people and the results have been confirmed by scientific research. Electromyographic studies have been carried out by the product developer, which confirm the muscular changes described in this leaflet.

Application:The plastic bases are inserted into the intraoral area between the cheeks and the teeth. The existing recesses adapt to the right and left corners of the mouth, so that the device with the external stainless steel wires remains outside the mouth without contact with the teeth.
When inserting the Pró-Fono facial trainer, the mouth expands horizontally due to the spring force. The user applies a pressure force to the cheeks to close the device by pressing the two plastic bases against the teeth, but without touching them, causing the muscles involved to contract. The lips remain half open, leaving the teeth visible if possible.

Recommended exercises:

1. Close the appliance slowly by applying pressure to the cheeks. Open the appliance slowly and relax the muscles. During the exercise, keep the teeth in natural occlusion and the lips half open, as relaxed as possible.

2. Close the device and hold it in place for about 15 seconds by applying pressure to the cheeks. During the exercise, keep the teeth in natural occlusion and the lips half open, without closing them.
Duration of use: variable, depending on the rehabilitation needs and the user's tolerance, 3 sets of 20 repetitions can be performed, divided or not throughout the day. In case of pain, reduce the frequency of use and do not exceed 20 minutes a day.

Precautions:

1. Make sure that the device is closed mainly by applying pressure to the cheeks and not by protruding the lips. Rounded and/or pressed lips will also compress the device, but this will reduce the effectiveness of the Pró-Fono facial trainer.

2. Make sure that there is neither excessive opening nor excessive pressure on the dental occlusion during the exercises in order to avoid overloading the temporomandibular joint.

3. The exercises should be performed without causing pain or discomfort to the user. During use of the Pró-Fono facial trainer, the right and left corners of the mouth may experience some pressure and become red as they engage the recesses of the device, especially at the beginning of the treatment. This redness decreases with time of use.

4. Salivation may be increased during exercise, and due to the half-open lips making swallowing difficult, saliva stains may appear at the corners of the lips, which will decrease with time of use.
