Product description:

The Pro-Fono thermal stimulator is used to stimulate thermal sensitivity (hot or cold) and the resulting increase in proprioception (the feeling of a specific part of the body and proportional to motor control). Its aim is to achieve motor control for neurovegetative functions, speech and adaptation of the phonoarticulatory organs.

The Pro-Fono thermal stimulator consists of an aluminum tube supported by a galvanized steel rod that allows it to roll. Developed by the speech therapist Elisa Bento de Carvalho Altmann, it is used to stimulate thermal sensitivity (hot or cold) and the consequent increase in proprioception (the sensation of a specific part of the body and proportional to motor control).

Cold stimulation is considered more effective because there are a larger number of these receptors. In addition, the feeling of cold persists for several seconds even after the stimulus is removed.

Application / Instructions

Indications:

The use of this device aims to gain motor control for neurovegetative functions, speech and adaptation of the phonoarticulatory organs.

It can be used for various speech therapy disorders and even in newborns.

Application:

Remove the cap at one end of the aluminum tube and add warm or cold water depending on the type of stimulation desired. The tube with water can be placed directly in the freezer. It is mainly intended for use on the face, especially on the lips, due to their strong reaction to temperature, especially cold. Thermal stimulation should be performed one to three times a day, according to the recommendations of the responsible speech therapist.
